Art has been one of my passions for quite some time. As a child, I remember watching my grandfather bring to life some fabulous works of art. I watched his hands delicately work with the skill of a master as he accentuated and deepened an image as he translated what he saw on to canvas. My first dwellings into art are a result of my grandfather Subramaniam Rasiah Kanagasabai or as he was more fondly known as SRK. He was a prominent Tamil artist in Ceylon. Watching him as a child inspired me to follow in his footsteps.
Although I never got into art full time until recently, I continued to paint regularly. Due to life’s many demands I haven’t had the time to become a full fledged artist. And now, after many of life’s important callings, I have decided to develop my ability with brush and canvas.
In 2009, I joined a “Drawing & Painting” class targeted for a mixed ability group run by Harrow council for a year. This was an important step in pursuit of walking in my grandfather’s footsteps.
I also decided to become a member of the Harrow Arts Society(HAS) and the Society for all Artists(SAA) of which I have been a member since 2009, in order to become a part of an inspirational group of talented and artistic people.
I was lucky enough to have some of my art pieces exhibited. Some of my work have been displayed in the Spring/ Autumn exhibitions organised by the Harrow Arts Society in between the years 2009 through 2019.
Art has been a significant part of my life, although I am but an amateur artist, it gives me great pleasure when I find myself with a brush and canvas, indicating that I will be painting for a long time to come.
